Sophia Haz3 is a Colombian bred bay area hip hop artist. She started taking her music career seriously at the age of 18 under her previous artist name “Lay Lay”. Under that name she had performed numerous times all over California, opening up for acts such as Wacka Flocka Flame, YG, Lil Debbie, J Stalin, Lil Durk, and Kirko Bangz. In 2014, she also won the chance to have her song “From the Bay” played on 106.1 Kmel Home Turf, which gives local artist a chance at radio play based on a voting system. March 2018, Sophia decided to grab her career by the horns and do a complete rebrand. Feeling like her the old name was holding her back, she decided to change the name and start again from the ground up.
Haz3 grew up with a diverse musical background being influenced by everyone from Tupac Shakur to Johnny Cash, and Missy Elliot to Jimi Hendrix. Connecting an entertaining visual to the music has always been important in her creations. Enamored by the stage presence of these greats, she was inspired to work hard on her own showmanship. Sophia Haz3 has a charisma and an energy on stage, that is infectious. Inclusion and directness is her performance style stating, “I just want my shows to feel like a big party, and I want everyone to have fun”.
She is now focused on her project coming out late June, titled “For the Summer”, It will be her debut project under the new name that will showcase her versatility and her musicality. It will also be a reflection of the different summer vibes she enjoys. Only about 2 months under the new name and she has already opened up for prominent bay area artist, Nef the Pharaoh, dropped her first music video “My Way”, and will be dropping another video late June for her next single “Wave”.
